DESIGNS BY LISELLE

SMALL BUSINESS OWNER

In early 2014, I took the leap from a stable full-time graphic design job into unfamiliar territory… Starting a business!

Designs By Liselle, a little design boutique specializing in creating custom event stationery, started off as a side project in earlier years. But when the opportunity arose to turn it into a small business, the challenge was one I couldn't ignore! So I began exploring...

The transition from designer to owner and operator of a small business has definitely put my knowledge and skills to the test! Through hard work, dedication and a passion to learn and help others, Designs By Liselle is steadily carving a niche in the wedding industry.

Branding & Identity

I wanted the logo to reflect an artistic yet relaxed design style. Choosing a calligraphy inspired font was perfect.

BUSINESS CARDS

First impressions matter! Especially to a print designer. The choice of paper chosen to print the business cards was extremely important as it instantly communicates the quality of work produced by Design By Liselle.

These were printed by Moo, using a quadplex printing process. (Layered printing). The results were a 32pt. thick business card with a sleek black matte inlay sandwiched between luxurious uncoated cardstock. It was quite the conversation starter with clients.

Website Design

With the help of a website builder platform, I was determined to custom design DBL's portfolio website from concept to completion. Using past web graphic design knowledge, I was able to create a site that reflected the brand and communicated my work effectively.

INFORMATION GUIDE

This attractive little handout package was used primarily during wedding trade-shows and client meetings. It contained my business card, a magnet and an information guide; describing my design process. A "tear-away" stationery check-list was included towards the bottom of the insert. Used with the magnet - it was an easy reminder of the variety of design services offered and a convenient way for couples to stay on track.

Tradeshow

Getting involved in tradeshows are a great way to promote Designs By Liselle's services and network with other local talent.

Sponsored Promotions

Designs By Liselle was invited to participate in a special promotion hosted by Wedding Girl and Rotary Etobicoke. One lucky couple would be selected to win a FREE wedding taking place at the 2015 Ribfest event in Etobicoke.

I was responsible to art-direct, create and design all stationery items required for the event which included menus, place cards, signs, favour tags, table numbers and programs. The design was to be classy with a hint of Ribfest inspiration!
